GREATER WORKS OUTREACH MINISTRY

In Spring 2007, Pastor Janet Davis, was given a call from God, to be a Shepherd over God’s sheep. Pastor Davis, obediently answered that call, and founded Greater Works Outreach Ministry. With a very humble beginning, Greater Works originated in a house with a membership of 11 people. However, with those faithful few, a powerful Pastor, and the Anointing of God flowing through the Word, the church grew rapidly. Within a year, Greater Works Outreach Ministry grew big enough to get a church building, and they immediately begin working in the community. Over the years, Greater Works has become a pillar in the community by feeding the homeless, helping the needy, and introducing Jesus to the lives of many. With God’s guidance, Pastor Davis and the Greater Works family continues to make a difference and build up the Kingdom of God! And the best is yet to come

Janet Davis

Pastor

Pastor Janet Davis is the Pastor of Greater Works Outreach Ministry. She was born and raised in Norfolk, VA, and  was the only sister to four brothers. Pastor Davis knew at an early age, that there was something special about her. At the age of 23, she married Tony Davis (Deceased). Together they had  two daughters, and raised eight of their nieces and nephews as well. At age 24, Pastor Davis, finally surrendered her life over to Jesus Christ, and accepted salvation. With God now on her side, and 10 children to support, Pastor Davis decided that despite dropping out of school at an early age, she wanted a better future for herself and her family.  So she went back to school and received her GED. Then she went on to attend college at Norfolk State University, where, in 1997, she received her Bachelor’s Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. A True Leader and Woman of God! We Look forward to fellowshipping with you at Greater Works. 

Alvin Brown

Minister

Alvin Brown, was born in the seventies in the great state of Virginia. He is a husband, and father of 7 wonderful children. Minister Brown has been a member of Greater Works Outreach Ministry since day one. Whenever called upon to assist in the church his answer has always been “Yes”. So when God called Minister Brown to preach the Word to the masses, he obediently answered the call. He was ordained and licensed to be a Minister, in 2007. Minister Brown is a dynamic preacher, and he loves to preach the word of GOD. But if you ask him, he’ll tell you he loves to hear The Word, just as much! Having home grown preachers is always a pleasant thing for every church. To have experienced God’s work in the life of the brethren is an awesome thing. To the point of watching the Lord use us to deliver his word and watch souls respond to the salvation call. All I can say is Hallelujah. Come join us this next time we gather.

James McMickle

Minister of Music

James McMickle is a young anointed gospel singer who has music flowing through his veins! Talk about a one man band, not only does he sing, but he’s also a gifted songwriter, pianist, drummer, and bass player. He really does it all! As a product of the 757, Norfolk,Va area, he has grown up to be a man that understands that life comes with harsh realities, and he wants to make a difference in this world through his music. James is the husband of Minister Toni McMickle, and together they have one son, James McMickle Jr. James joined Greater Works Outreach Ministry in 2016, and has been the Minister of Music ever since. He is in charge of the Church’s Music Department, which includes being the leader of the Greater Works Praise Team, and Choir. James is anointed to do music, and he always ushers in the Spirit of God at Greater Works. Come fellowship with us because the anointing is in the air! You’ve got to come hear it!

Toni McMickle

Minister

Minister Toni McMickle Toni McMickle was born and raised in Norfolk, VA. She is the youngest daughter of Pastor Janet Davis, Pastor of Greater Works Outreach Ministry, where she is currently a member. Minister McMickle accepted salvation at the tender age of 3 years old. She has been devoted to God ever sense. Minister McMickle is a graduate of Old Dominion university. In 2007, she received her Minister’s license, and was ordained to preach the Gospel to the world. In 2016, Minister Toni McMickle was married to her husband, Minister James Mcmickle, and they were Blessed with a son, James McMickle Jr. Together, with her husband, Minister McMickle, also helps lead the Praise & Worship team at Greater Works. And she is also in charge of the Youth Dept. As a Wife, Mother, and Minister of the Word, Minister McMickle continues to allow God to use her everyday! 

Franshawn Brown

Secretary

FRANSHAWN Brown was born in Norfolk, Va. She is the eldest daughter of Pastor Janet Davis, Pastor, of Greater Works Outreach Ministry. Sis Brown has been a member of Greater Works Outreach Ministry since it started in 2007. She and her husband, Minister Alvin Brown, and their 7 children were one of the very first families, who became members of Greater Works. She helped build the ministry from the ground up, and has been a faithful steward in the fold. Along with being a wife and mother of 7, her job title at the church is the church’s Secretary. But that is not all she does at Greater Works. Sis Brown also uses her gift of song, to usher in the spirit of God every Sunday, as she sings on the church’s praise team. However, it’s her Ministry of Feeding the Homeless that gives her the most joy and what she really loves to do. She has fed many homeless and needy people in the community over the years! We thank God for her!
